NT restockers seeking northern WA feeder steers
THE bright medium and longer term outlook for livestock commodities is enhancing the option for producers to look at financing various livestock production opportunities.
Gerald Wetherall, WA Livestock Manager with Westcoast Wool & Livestock, said the company offered a number of finance options to assist producers with their livestock requirements.
He said finance was available for numerous livestock opportunities such as feedlotting, backgrounding, trading and breeding.
“These days, 1000 sheep can cost over $100 a head, but producers can also get a good return on that investment,’’ Gerald said.
“You could buy and run sheep at the moment and repay the finance in about 12 months. There are not too many other products where you could do that.
“In some cases, there would even be the opportunity to forward sell the wool to assist the management and return on investment.’’
He said for farmers who may be keen to get back into livestock, the range of finance options available provided the ability for them to do this in a strong way – and to have it secured against the livestock.
Gerald said with the continuing need to improve supply of quality product to the local processing industry, livestock production opportunities like feedlotting were expected to increase.
An accredited member of the Independent Livestock and Property Agents of Australia, Westcoast Wool & Livestock is growing rapidly and has strong links across the supply chain, including with processors and supermarket chains, and supplies all major livestock exporters.
The company’s strong, established team of sheep and cattle marketing specialists is spread throughout southern and northern areas, providing a professional service for all stock.
